“Daebat” means bamboo field. Damyang Daebat is a brand drawn from the food culture of Damyang, and the restaurant itself stands in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Damyang Daebat began with the food culture of Damyang in South Jeolla Province, and the restaurant itself stands in Myeongdong, Seoul. Damyang is fertile farming country bordering Sunchang, famous for its deep-flavoured fermented sauces; this Myeongdong Korean BBQ takes that regional character and sets it alongside Korea's own tradition of the generous spread. Charcoal grilling sits at the centre, but side dishes, soup and rice always arrive on the same table.
Our Story · Myeongdong Korean BBQ
Rooted in Damyang, served in Myeongdong
“Daebat” means bamboo field. Damyang Daebat is a brand drawn from the food culture of Damyang, and the restaurant itself stands in Myeongdong, Seoul.
01
A table that began with Damyang's food culture
Damyang has long been fertile farming country, and it borders Sunchang, famous for its deep-flavoured fermented sauces. Our table grew out of that local character and Korea's own tradition of the generous spread.
02
Charcoal grilling meets the Korean table
A Korean table never carries just one dish. Grilled meat sits at the centre while side dishes, soup and rice complete the meal together. Damyang Daebat brings that hansang tradition to charcoal grilling.
03
A meal for locals and travellers alike
For Koreans, a welcome return of the generous spread that has grown harder to find. For visitors, a chance to taste charcoal-grilled meat and many Korean dishes in one sitting. Menus and signage are prepared in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese.
“Damyang Daebat sets Korea on a single table.”
Hansang
Every set comes with the Damyang hansang spread
Side dishes, soup and rice all arrive at once around the charcoal grill. This is Myeongdong Korean BBQ as a complete Korean meal, not just a plate of meat.
The photo shows an example spread; what you get varies by set.
